Team CTS Promotes Drift at the Shannons Nationals and Tests New Engine Setup
A Words By Team CTS Drift
During the short period between Round 2 and the up coming round 3, the team has been hard at work putting a new power plant in the Team CTS Drift beast. With the actual engine specs being kept secret by the crew, we can tell u that it still remains as a two litre and as always Rhemac High Performance Engines has put together another strong and reliable package.
Crew Chief Mark Tilbrook said the following when asked bout the new engine and why it was put in. "We decided that the other engine had done its fair amount of work for the season, as it had been in there since we went to the D1 All stars. Although it was still strong we have been planning for sometime to run a second motor and the original motor will now become our spare after a once over by Rhemac's". While the team was at it, the car got its usual maintenance schedule between rounds and also installed a new 100mm Trust Cooler and fabricated a new air box to ensure intake temps are kept at a absolute minimum.
The team’s first opportunity to test this engine and setup was at the "Shannons Nationals" on the weekend during the demo event of the "Super 8 Drift". The original plan was to have a mini competition of 8 drivers, but due to a few last minute pull outs the number was reduced to 6. It was then decided to go out and show the crowd and Drivers/Teams from other disciplines a few mock battles and basically demonstrate the exciting motor sport that is drift. The whole event went well and the crowd response was great for drift and the teams exposure, it was also a great opportunity for the team to get some testing done before the upcoming Drift Australia round 3.
We would like to thank Rob Curkpatrick and the Shannons Nationals for the invite out to the event and as always our sponsors and there continued support. Be sure to catch us back out at Mallala this weekend (24th and 25th of May) for round 3 of the Toyo Tires Drift Australia Series, as we battle it out to try and take the win once again.
